The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter’s ‘Hill Top House’ at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the ‘Go Ape’ adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.

Directions

By Car:
Exit the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A591 to the Lake District. You will pass by Kendal and need to follow the signs for Windermere/Ambleside. After around a further 8 miles you will reach Windermere village. Take the first left turning off the A591, just after The Windermere Hotel, to pass the Tourist Information Centre on your left.  Continue on the main route through Windermere village, then turn left, just after the pedestrian crossing into Broad Street. Continue to the end of Broad Street and at the T junction turn left into Woodland Road. Woodland Boutique, Crookleigh House, is number 15 and is just on the left.

Free on street parking is available in front of the cottage, further down Woodland Road or take the next right and further free on street parking is available next to the park on Park Road

By Train:

Regular train connections can be taken from Oxenholme the Lake District train Station direct to Windermere. Oxenholme is located on the West Coast Mainline found on routes between Scotland and London.

The train Station is located 100m from the Tourist Information Centre. Once there please follow the instructions above.
